In addition to traditional "talk therapy," an option I offer my clients is the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM). As a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery (FAMI), I have extensive training and experience in this music-centered transformational therapy which was developed by Helen L. Bonny, Ph.D. in the early 1970's. Perhaps you've experienced how music can put you in touch with your emotions and imagination. I help clients use this power of music to create a healing vision for their lives by paying attention to their own inner imagery while listening to music. Interacting with one's own imagery while in a relaxed state of consciousness can lead to health, healing, and wholeness on many different levels including the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual.
Many of my clients choose to focus on their personal therapy goals by meeting weekly for psychotherapy. Some clients are also interested in more general personal growth and/or spiritual development. With these clients, I establish a schedule that combines traditional counseling some weeks with sessions that include GIM other weeks.
